The NHS in Northumberland recognises that, each year, nearly a quarter of us have difficulties with common psychological problems such as anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, stress, trauma, phobias and anger, as well as problems with regard to relationships, work or debt. Because these difficulties have a considerable impact on our lives, this new service has been set up to make appropriate help more readily available to those who need it.

Northumberland Primary Care Psychological Therapies Service

Who can use the service?
Anyone living in Northumberland aged 16yrs and over who would like help with common psychological problems.

How do I arrange an appointment?
Please telephone MHCO using the number below. A member of the administration team will take your details and arrange your first appointment. You can also send us an email or a fax and we will get back to you.

Do I need to get a referral from my doctor?
No, you can contact the service directly without going through your doctor if you wish. However, you may speak to your doctor first if you would like to. Your doctor will be aware of the service and will be able to advise you about its suitability and will also be able to refer you if you would find that helpful.

Where does the service take place?

Face to face individual therapy, groups and workshops will take place at a variety of NHS and community venues throughout Northumberland.
